Jerimis: The Handwritten Font That Builds a Better Brand

I was staring at my laptop screen, trying to update the menu for my café. The old one looked so stiff and corporate, nothing like the cozy, welcoming space I wanted to project. I knew my food was good, the coffee was great, and my customers were happy, but my menu felt like it belonged to a different business. It was a small thing, but it nagged at me. That’s when I started looking for a font that felt more like me, and I found Jerimis.

Jerimis is a modern typeface designed to look like handwriting. It's simple and unique, with a personality that’s both fun and friendly. It doesn’t feel overly formal or try-hard, but it has a polished quality that made my café’s name, specials, and descriptions suddenly look more… personal. It was the exact touch of warmth I needed.

Why Your Font Choice Speaks Before You Do

We often forget that the letters we use to talk to our customers are part of the conversation. Typography creates a first impression before a customer even reads the words. A cold, generic font can make a handmade candle seem mass-produced. A cluttered, hard-to-read font on a skincare label can undermine a promise of purity and care.

For my café, Jerimis became the voice of my brand. It looked consistent across everything—the printed menu, the chalkboard sign outside, the social media posts announcing new pastries. That consistency builds trust and makes you recognizable. Customers start to associate that friendly, handwritten look with your business, whether they see it on your packaging, your thank-you cards, or your website banner.

Putting Jerimis to Work in Your Business

This isn’t just about making pretty graphics; it’s about making your everyday business materials more effective. Jerimis excels as a display font. It’s perfect for the parts of your design that need to grab attention and convey personality.

Where It Shines

Imagine using Jerimis for your logo or business name on a product label. On a bakery box, it makes the name of the treat feel special. On a candle jar, it gives the scent title a crafted, artistic vibe. For an online shop, it can make your product titles on your website or digital ads feel more unique and click-worthy.

It works beautifully for short phrases and headlines: your tagline on a business card, the main title on a flyer, the ‘Thank You’ on a card tucked into an order. I used it for the section headers on my café menu—‘Fresh Pastries’, ‘Seasonal Drinks’—and instantly, those categories felt more inviting.

Because it’s a script font with a clean, modern hand-drawn style, it’s also fantastic for decorative accents. A single word in Jerimis alongside a cleaner font can add just the right touch of whimsy or warmth to a design.

A Note on Readability

For longer paragraphs of text, like detailed product descriptions or blog posts, you’ll want to pair Jerimis with a more readable body font. On small labels, like for a tiny spice jar or a boutique clothing tag, use Jerimis for just the key word—the product name or your brand. On mobile screens and social media thumbnails, it’s clear and engaging for headlines, but keep the text short. The unique design of each letter makes it memorable, not meant for dense blocks of text.

Building a Complete Look with Font Pairings

A great brand visual isn’t built on one font alone. The magic happens when you pair a distinctive font like Jerimis with something that supports it. For a balanced, professional look, I paired Jerimis with a clean, easy-to-read sans serif font for all my body text and prices.

This combination is incredibly effective. The Jerimis headline conveys personality and charm, while the sans serif text provides clarity and trust. It tells a customer, “We’re friendly and creative, but we’re also serious and easy to work with.” You could also pair it with a simple serif font for a more elegant, editorial feel, perfect for a beauty brand or a coaching business.

The Practical Details Before You Dive In

When you’re choosing a font for your business, especially for things you’ll sell or print, you need to check a few key boxes. First, confirm the licensing. Jerimis is a commercial font, which means you can use it on your products, packaging, and merchandise—a must for any serious business owner.

Look at the included file formats to ensure they work with your design software. Check for any extra features like alternates or ligatures, which can give you even more flexibility to make your text look unique. See if it has multilingual support if your market is broad. And consider the weight—Jerimis has a consistent, medium-weight stroke that gives it a confident but approachable feel, perfect for a main brand typeface.

Finding Jerimis wasn’t about discovering a fancy design tool; it was about solving a very real, very small problem that was holding my brand back from feeling cohesive. That updated menu did more than list prices; it welcomed people. The labels I designed for my homemade granola to sell at the counter looked professional but still handmade. My Instagram graphics finally matched the mood of my space.

Typography is a quiet part of your business, but it speaks loudly. A font like Jerimis, with its handwritten charm and modern simplicity, can help you say the right things: that you’re authentic, that you care about details, and that your business has a personality worth remembering. It turns your words into a visual handshake, and that’s a upgrade worth making.
